•Welcome to the Rugby Mountaineering Club Mailing List...

The RMC mailing list is a web-based facility for managing the distribution of club information to members (or anyone else) that wishes to receive the information.

Members can subscribe to and unsubscribe from the service automatically. It is not necessary to manually maintain a huge list of email addresses - which is inevitably always out of date.

You can add as many email addresses to the mailing list as you like. For example you may wish to add a home as well as a work email address.

Instructions for use are given in the following paragraphs. Please read the section that most meets your needs.

•Subscribing to the mailing list...

To subscribe to the RMC mailing follow these instructions:

  1. Click on the link at the bottom of this page.
  2. Type your email address into the box.
  3. Click on the submit button.

The mailing list software will then send you an email which you need to read and follow the instructions contained within it. This process prevents other people from adding your name to the mailing list against your will.

•Unsubscribing from the mailing list...

To unsubscribe from the mailing list simply click on the link which is included at the foot of every mailing list message.

Alternatively you can follow these instructions:

  1. Click on the link at the bottom of this page.
  2. Type your email address into the box.
  3. Click on the unsubscribe button
  4. Click on the submit button.

•Sending a simple text message to all subscribers...

To send a mailing list message you need to know the password. Assuming you know the password follow these instructions:

  1. Click on the link at the bottom of this page.
  2. Click on the 'Administration' link at the bottom of the page.
  3. Enter the password into the first box and click on the 'login' button.
  4. Modify the 'Subject' box as required.
  5. Type in your message into the box.
  6. Click the green 'Send List message' button.
  7. When you have finished please click on the 'logout' link at the bottom left hand corner of the page.
  8. Check your own email account to check the message was sent correctly

•Sending a mailing list message with an attachement...

Although this is possible, please don't do it! It has been discovered that sending attachments with this mailing facility creates large files that can take up to a month to be delivered. Instead it is preferable to add the file to the club website and to distribute, via the mailing list, a link to this file. Subscribers can then choose whether to visit this link or not.
